Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Gothic Revival Style circa 1890…..
The Catholic Church owned this building until 1950 when its congregation built the current Our Lady of the Lake Church and moved to”A” Avenue. Although the Sacred Heart Catholic Church building no longer serves any religious denomination, today it is a a private residence , it is believed to be the oldest standing church structure in Lake Oswego.
This fine example of the Gothic Revival Style showcases such characteristic features as the steeply pitched gable roof and pointed-arch windows. The entrance with the paired paneled doors and pointed-arch transom is sheltered by a gabled porch supported by stout beveled posts and brackets. The decorated panel above the door is an additional ornamental element. The original bell tower/steeple blew off the church during the Columbus Day storm of 1962.

WAITING….every time I pass this stretch of railroad tracks I see this rusty machinery (or equipment) just sitting and waiting. There are dozens lined up all the way down the railroad track as far as the eye can see.
I don’t know what they are but thought of the real estate market and how everyone seems to be waiting for the economy to improve so I took this picture ”just because”.
Do you know what this equipment is and why they are waiting? At Pilkington and Upper Boones Ferry Road in Lake Oswego.

Kruse family barn…..tucked away and hidden in the heart of the busy Kruse Way Financial District, surrounded by towering office buildings of brick and glass, the remains of the Kruse family farm sit at the intersection of Carman Drive, between Meadows Drive and Kruse Way, in Lake Oswego.
Years ago when Mr. Kruse was still alive, while on my daily walks, I would pass the Kruse farm. Mr. Kruse was always out plowing his field sitting atop his rusty old tractor. When he would see me, he’d stop and give me a squash, a tomato or at the very least some flowers. I’d ask him when he was going to get a new tractor and his comment was always that his tractor was “more reliable than some women he knew”.

Fall back….Spring forward…. have you turned your clocks back?
As I was walking away from the park I turned to look over my shoulder and saw the sun shining through the leaves. I started taking pictures as I couldn’t get enough of our gorgeous Fall weather….. a peek-a-boo view of the Willamette River from George Rogers Park, Lake Oswego.
