Lake Oswego Winery

LO_Winery

I belong to a photo club and this month we’re doing a photo scavenger hunt. Going through my mass of photos,  I see I have lots of pictures from around Lake Oswego that I have never posted.

In another post I noted that all my blogs had been hacked 5-6 times and most everything was lost in cyberspace. However, I actually have all the posts and pictures saved, and it is just a matter of time and effort before I bring them all back here.

Going through those photos, I found another picture of the Lake Oswego Winery on Stafford Road I took a couple of summers ago.  It is a wonderful place to visit to enjoy their wines and scenery.

Lake Oswego New Years Day 2014

Lake Oswego New Years Day 2014.lakeoswegolivingphotoblog.wordpress.com

It’s been a while since I have posted on my photo blog. For some reason 2013 wasn’t a year I either had a lot of time or desire to pull out my camera.

I’m in a photo challenge with my photography group that started today and found myself anxious to get back out there and take pictures. Therefore, hopefully you will see a lot more postings here as well.

On my way home from a wonderful day and brunch at the Urban Farm Restaurant in Portland, I captured this sunset from Lake Oswego High School.

What a beautiful sunset to start 2014.

In 2014….“May you see sunshine where others see shadows and opportunities where others see obstacles” (Positive Thinking Blog).

Wishing you an incredible 2014.

Pumpkins At Luscher Farm.lakeoswegolivingphotoblog.wordpress.com

Pumpkins At Luscher Farm

I happened to go to the farm on the spur of the moment on the last 80+ degree day, Friday the 13th in September.  We had such a dry summer with little to no rain that the gardens were thirsty, shown by the dry foliage of this garden patch. These were the only pumpkins of good size that I could see, although I didn’t walk the entire area. Garden plots are paid for and maintained by local Lake Oswego citizens as their private and personal gardens.

Luscher Farm is one of those places I lose total track of time.  I think I took over 100 photos that day.  When was the last time you and your family went to Luscher Farm?

Lake Oswego Skate Park Murals

I’ve been wanting to take pictures of the new murals at the Lake Oswego Skate Park but our weather hasn’t cooperated.  Finally, on one of our perfect Portland ’10′ weather days, I got to take some pictures. The Lake Oswego Youth Action Council & Fellow Student Artists 2012 unveiled a permanent art installation at the city skate park on National Skate Day, June 21.

The murals resulted from four weeks of work, totaling 40 hours per mural. Students from both Lake Oswego and Lakeridge high schools received volunteer hour credits for their efforts. Students were guided by Cydny Winslow, teen and youth program coordinator for Lake Oswego Parks and Recreation. Winslow worked closely with skate park coordinator Chris Hancock on the location of the murals.

Winslow was assisted by recent Lake Oswego High School graduate MaKenzie Reed, who works at the teen lounge teaching Thursday evening art classes to middle schoolers. If you’ve noticed from my photo blogs and real estate blogs, I love murals. These are vivid and beautiful. I enjoyed them even more knowing the students from Lake Oswego painted them.

Sirens By Toparovsky

These sirens (Thelxiepeia, Parthenope and Agalope) are at Millennium Plaza Park in lighted niches along the walkway from the upper portion of the park to the lower part of the park on State Street.

Simon Toparovsky was also involved in the designing of Millennium Plaza Park. All the pieces in the park are related to the Myth of Icarus. His other pieces in Millennium Plaza Park are Fortuna, The Three Graces, The Flight of Icarus, and all of them have been posted here too.

Icarus Falling.lakeoswegolivingphotoblog.wordpress.com

Icarus Falling

This piece of art is on the back wall of Lake View Village below Manzana’s Restaurant. I just found out it is by the artist Simon Toparovsky, the same artist who is the creator of 19 other pieces of art in Millennium Plaza Park and the designer of that park as well.  I had it mislabeled previously and wanted to properly give credit to Simon Toparovsky.  It is a life-size cast-iron piece of art.

 Age of Iron.lakeoswegolivingphotoblog.wordpress.com

Age Of Iron

This sculpture called Age of Iron is part of the City of Lake Oswego’s permanent art collection. This piece of art sits on the Cline-Kinyon Corridor, a pathway in downtown Lake Oswego, dedicated to two public employees. Cline (1969) and Kinyon (1973) both retired in the early 2000s.

Tom Hardy is the artist of this sculpture who describes it as “welded metal placed in harmony” and is made of reclaimed steel.

Gallery Without Walls

In October 2009, I set out on a goal to photograph every piece of art and sculpture within the Gallery Without Walls in Lake Oswego.  I photographed all the rotating exhibits, the permanent art collections and People’s Choice winners from 2009 until now.  I have finally accomplished and completed that goal.

This is the last of the photographs from the Gallery Without Walls until July 2012 when an additional 15 sculptures will be presented by the City of Lake Oswego as a part of the on-going rotating exhibit.

PT 658 Comes To Lake Oswego.lakeoswegolivingphotoblog.wordpress.comPT658 COMES TO LAKE OSWEGO

Unfortunately I wasn’t able to attend this year’s Lake Oswego Classic Antique Wooden Boat And Car Show in August because I was working and selling real estate.

However, the PT658 was docked at Foothills Park on the Willamette River and after my last appointment I rushed down to take a picture. I was glad it was still there..

It is the only WWII PT boat currently in operation.

Since it’s Veteran’s Day today, I am posting PT658 in honor of all the brave men and women who sacrificed their lives so we can enjoy our freedoms.

Sculpture by Jay Moody is part of the 15 new sculptures within the rotating exhibit in the Gallery Without Walls. Made of fabricated steel and copper it costs $18,000 and sits at A Ave. & 4th St. I met Jay recently in front of his gorgeous sculpture – Seraphim makes quite an impression.

I must have a “thing” for artichokes as I took a picture of some at the Lake Oswego Farmers Market last year too. These however, are from Luscher Farm last summer. A reminder that sunnier days are coming soon.

Hansel & Gretel Cottage.allaboutlakeoswegolivingaphotoblog.com

Hansel & Gretel Cottage

When I saw this small building in Lake Oswego, it reminded me of the fairy-tale Hansel & Gretel. It isn’t for sale nor do I know who owns it. In fact, it sits behind a retail business so it may not be an owner-occupied house at all, but a storage shed of sorts. Regardless, I thought it was charming. Downsizing anyone?
